Biography

After graduating with honors from Creighton University in 1981, Dr. Sedlacek began medical school at UNMC where he chose to dedicate his career to Psychiatry. Since completing residency training at the combined Creighton/Nebraska program in 1989, he has been affiliated with Psychiatric Services, P.C. as the current senior member.

“My personal goal has been to use my medical expertise to stay on the cutting edge of psychiatric medicine with a primary focus being psychopharmacology. I have been blessed to have the unique opportunity to be intimately involved in the lives of my patients. My goal is to help them recover during challenging times of their lives. I believe open honest communication fosters growth and development.”

Psychiatric Services has emphasized leadership in the mental community, and Dr. Sedlacek has served as the President of the Nebraska Psychiatric Society and chaired multiple committees at Methodist Hospital and Richard Young Hospital.

For approximately 20 years, I have had a meaningful and positive therapeutic experience while working with Dr. Michael Sedlacek.He is easy to talk to, listens, and understands what you are describing. Well versed in psychiatric diagnoses, he creates a treatment plan with you to improve your source of discomfort/pain. Extremely knowledgeable about medications, dosages, interactions with other medications you may be on and side effects are discussed. If you have questions or concerns about anything, he is always open to discussing them. His treatment is global, not only focusing on one aspect of your life but including other changes you may be experiencing. He speaks honestly but kindly and is clearly an advocate for improving your health with you. Dr. Sedlacek is a steady source of support. Dr. Sedlacek has been tremendously helpful to my family. For instance, he was able to finally find the root cause of a health situation that had eluded us and other doctors for over seven years. He truly is on the cutting edge of knowledge in his field, and he also is very kind and empathetic. He has a great sense of humor, as well. I recommend him very highly.

I absolutely love Dr. Sedlacek! He is so caring and SO good at what he does! It is such a relief to go to a doctor who truly knows their stuff and is highly competent. He is a great listener and has helped me so much over the past few years. I have recommended him to people many times. Definitely a hero in his profession.

A gentle and thoughtful doctor, who has been attentive to my needs. I read with horror the review "Only interested in your money," which is the last thing you could ever say about him. He has shown over and over a willingness to work with me, and even took a personal loss when their office changed policies about my crummy insurance.
