Biography

Dr. Lubberstedt graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2003 and chose to pursue a career in psychiatry as he found his greatest satisfaction in health care encounters were through investigating, educating, and treating patients who presented with emotional or behavioral problems. He completed his general psychiatry residency through the Creighton Medical Center/UNMC program in 2006, and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry through the same program in 2008. Dr. Lubberstedt was subsequently certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in general psychiatry in 2008, and in child and adolescent psychiatry in 2009.

Prior to joining Psychiatric Services, P.C. Dr. Lubberstedt worked in a variety of settings including residential treatment, inpatient and partial hospitalization, group homes, and outpatient clinic. He joined Psychiatric Services, P.C. in 2014 so he could focus his time and attention on outpatient care, specializing primarily in pediatric psychiatry. What he enjoys most about psychiatry is the part he gets to play in restoring the health of his patients. “While there are many medical conditions that you can see with your naked eye, what I help with is no less damaging, but I feel all the more rewarding. I have the honor of helping people achieve a higher quality of life than they had before, and in many cases get to assist children and adults in maturing and flourishing into the people that God created them to be.”

When not working, Dr. Lubberstedt is an avid runner, Husker fan, and loves exploring the mountains whenever he gets the chance.

Public Speaking

Several of our physicians are trained promotional speakers for a variety of pharmaceutical companies. These doctors have been chosen because of their experience and expertise in their field and because of the respect amongst their peers. We believe this offers us the opportunity to meet with and discuss the current issues in our field with the primary thought leaders and researchers of psychiatry. Additionally it allows us to interact on a local, regional and national level with our psychiatric peers.

Our family has been seeing Dr. Lubberstedt for approximately 10 years. He is by far the best family psychiatrist, he relates on different age levels and is able to have that child gauge their own mood, energy, motivation, anxiety, depression, etc. at their own developmental level. He is able to adjust the medications accordingly and the follow up is appropriate. I would recommend him to any family considering a psychiatrist.

Best doc -Dr. L. educates patients thoroughly about treatment options and how they work, is knowledgeable about non-prescription alternatives, and has patient collaborative discussions to help patients choose the best path for themselves. He also does a great job of empowering minors by talking directly to them at appointments.I have been with Dr. Lubberstedt for over a decade through treatments for depression and anxiety. He has also treated my children for depression and ADHD in college and high school.I trust Dr. L’s judgement, wisdom and ethics more than any physician I’ve worked with. (I work in healthcare so I’ve been around a lot of physicians.) Would recommend him with 100% confidence to family and friends. All the thumbs up for this one. -AJ

I've been with Dr. Lubberstedt almost my whole mental health journey. I started being treated for ADHD at 15 years old. Therapy helped for so long, then I realized I needed medicine for major depressive disorder. He never gave up on me and my medicine journey. It felt like nothing worked for me! Long story short, I am 22 years old now, still seeing Dr. Lubberstedt and I can confidently say I have never been happier and more at peace with my life. I've found the right combination of medicine for me! Dr. Lubberstedt is compassionate, he is knowledgeable, he is personable, he is trustworthy. A doctor who is truly passionate about his work; it's hard to find when money is the motivation of most of these people. I would suggest him to anyone who feels like they're being given up on. I would suggest him to anyone who feels as if they are simply just another patient. I would suggest him to anyone who wants a doctor who cares.
